The Izu-kyu Shimoda trains sport some of the highest priced trains in Japan. I think this train line is the second most expensive in Japan. However there is a reason.
Seats that allow you to gaze at the ocean and enjoy the scenic views of the Izu Peninsula.
So there is a local train but at set time special trains will run. The resort trains and the black ships train are among it. These trains cost no extra money to ride. They are extremely comfortable for a local train. (Don’t get it mixed up with the Izu-Kyu Royal Express or the Odoriko or you’ll end up paying extra.)
Occasionally there will be different themes so if you travel down to Shimoda check these trains out!
