“Why Japanese people?” my students scream and laugh as they run past me. They are stopped by the gym teacher and given a stern lecture about respect and how they should not run in the hallway. My students are quite the intriguing bunch. They are not your stereotypical Japanese student. Despite their cheerfulness I feel they are weighed down by the culture that demands respect over anything above all. All they want to prance around the halls and laugh away their youth.
